EPOCH on the Rock: Live Action Role Play

Do you enjoy roleplaying games, fantasy worlds, or safe (yet chaotic) live combat? EPOCH on the Rock is a live-action roleplaying (LARP) group here in St. John's, and we're always looking for new players. Throughout the summer, we get together for weekend games, where we enjoy good food, good company, and a never-ending stream of monsters, magic, and other strange events. This panel talks about what a LARP event is like, how combat and magic work in the game, and how you can join in. So if you're ready to swing a foam sword or throw some magic, this is one LARP you cannot miss. Game on!

Broaching Steampunk: Making Broaches from Found Items

Steampunk Newfoundland

A major theme in Steampunk is the creation of costumes and accessories using found items. This workshop will illustrate this concept through the creation of broaches (also can be used as hat pins). Participants will be given a plain backing and will be able to explore "found" items to glue to the backing to create their own steampunk broach. Participants are also encouraged to bring in some of their own found items to share or to give their broach a personal touch.

Hologram Ninjas laser and light show features acts by three circus performers who love cosplay and sci fi. The short spectacle will be a visual feast of light energy, circus skills and colorful costumes. This years theme for our act is superheroes.

Performances will include Laser Girl, Susan Jarvis and Dash Malone. Laser Girl can bend light, hold lasers and shoot real streams of energy from the palms of her hand while doing her laser dance. Susan Jarvis is a local performer who uses her LED Hula Hoops to create astounding patterns pictures and dance moves. Dash Malone is an acrobat who uses his light sabers, Hologram wands and nunchaku to cast classic video game sprites and other artwork in mid air.
