Biography

D.C. Rhind is the author of the Calebra Fantasy Series and, more recently, the Agent Samurai, Vampire-Hunter Series. A Halifax area native, David comes to Sci-Fi on the Rock to launch The Pirates’ Nemesis, book 5 of his Calebra Fantasy Series. “This is my second visit to the Rock,” David comments, “and, yes, I’ve kissed the codfish. Newfoundland is a place of magic, it’s people some of the most creative, determined and courageous that I’ve ever met. Coming here to launch the last in a series of books about wizards and warriors makes perfect sense.”

David was born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, spent his high school and university years in Dartmouth, then lived abroad for over thirty years, in Bermuda, the Bahamas, North Carolina, and Florida. He has been a biology teacher, a martial arts instructor, a musician, and has captained several ocean crossings. David studied pre-med biology (BSc) at Acadia, did a BEd at Dalhousie, and was senior biology master at a British secondary school in Bermuda before taking off south on his sailboat.

He now devotes himself to writing full-time and, after associations with traditional publishing houses, elected to self-publish his new vampire series, enabling him to retain electronic rights, and is now registered with Library and Archives Canada as the publisher of his own eBooks. His eBooks are now being carried by Barnes & Noble (Nook), Amazon (Kindle), and the Apple iBooks Bookstore. In November of 2011, Frontier University awarded David a Master of Arts Degree in Creative Writing.
